Seven Deadly Sins Project

This is my finished assignment for my digital art class this semester. I debated for a long time whether or not to post it here. A lot of the elements in the collage were traced from a number of different pictures. I mainly used stock photos and things like that, but still I feel compelled to acknowledge that I didn't do all of this freehand.

That said, holy crap, this took a LONG LONG time. If you would be so kind to look at the panel for gluttony (the one with the bathtub and pig) THAT TOOK FOREVER. It made me hate candy Dx
I usually like to start and finish a piece within a couple of days, a week at the most. But this, this took more than a month. So sooooo glad I was able to finish it.

From right to left the sins are as follows: Wrath, Gluttony, Greed, Envy, Sloth, Lust, and Pride.

Each sin is shown with it's associated animal and colors. Though, to be fair I changed some of the animals to make more sense. For lust I chose a rabbit instead of the cow. And I chose a cat for sloth and a pack rat for greed, instead of the traditional animals.

Note: When I drew this, I started on the right hand side and moved leftward

Wrath - Not much to say about this one. I really like the way the man's face turned out. He's shown getting frustrated with a chess game because the virtue that offsets wrath is patience.

Gluttony - A bathtub full of candy sounds like a fun thing to draw. IT ISN'T. It's alright for the first half hour, then you realize you're not even half way done TwT Overall, I'm glad I did do the tub of candy. It's pretty to look at~

Greed - I wanted to show Greed as something that's petty and childish, so instead of using money and gold, I used junk. Again, a junk pile sounded fun to draw, but it wasn't.

Envy - I had a hard time coming up with a picture for Envy until I turned on the TV. Lo and behold, Toddlers & Tiaras followed by Dance Moms. So much delicious envy~ I really liked being able to use a child in this. And I still LOVE how that crown came out.

Sloth - This is one of my least favorites. For sloth I used the concept of sloth that means sadness and despair. I love the mask, but I'm not crazy about anything else in the panel.

Lust - This one was really fun. Though, searching for "suggestive poses" for this in class was...interesting xD overall, I like how this turned out. My only problem is instead of looking androgynous, it looks like a dude's head on a chick's body. Symbolism?

Pride - By this point, i was SO ready to be done. This panel looks a little bleh to me, but i guess the colors are still kind nice *shrugs*. Originially, I was really going to mess Pride up. Think broken mirrors and bloody bandages over the eyes and things of that nature. Buuuut it seemed kind of the wrong tone.
